Connecting Artists and Patrons Through Art In Windows
Earlier this month, our Art In Windows program reached a big milestone when two pieces of artwork from our recent Art Through Transition show were sold. Richmond resident (and Main Street board vice-chair) Billy Ward added “art patron” to his resume by purchasing artworks by Elmarise “Resse” Owens and Malik Seneferu.
From its inception, we envisioned Art In Windows as a way to activate Downtown spaces through art and to create opportunities for Richmond artists to promote their work and connect with fans. With these sales–the first in Art In Windows history–we are thrilled to realize the patronage component of this program and to connect Richmond artists with local patrons. Thank you Billy for your service and supporting our artists! Big thanks also to the Neighborhood Public Art Mini-Grant program for supporting this program and its 2019 exhibitions, Art Through Transition.
Counting Down to the Start of Celebrate Downtown 2019
We’re starting this week with a countdown towards the launch of Celebrate Downtown 2019! Summer starts with our annual Healthy Village Festival on June 29. Make sure you save the date and come Downtown for a day filled with healthy and wellness fun. PLUS special appearance Demnlus Johnson, III: Richmond council member and first ever Main Street event Grand Marshal!
We’re also counting down to the deadline for food vendors to apply to be a part of Music on the Main. Just one week left for folks to reserve their spot at these super fun concerts on July 24 and August 28. Also now open: vendor registration for Spirit & Soul Festival and volunteer sign-ups for all Celebrate Downtown events. Help us make these events great: reserve a booth space, sign-up to help out, and share with your network!
