This past Saturday, June 8, Richmond Main Street and the West Coast Chess Alliance hosted our annual Spring Clean-Up and Chess in the Park event at the Community Green Space. Volunteers arrived at 9am to roll up their sleeves (figuratively) and spruce up the park in preparation for summer. Together we eliminated weeds, overgrowth, litter, and leaves throughout the entire space, filling nearly 30 bags with debris! In total 16 volunteers contributed 38 hours of service. At noon we gathered for lunch and to play chess — a well deserved reward for hard work. For more photos and a short video of our efforts, check out this article over at the Richmond Standard.

HUGE THANKS to all the volunteers who helped out and to the City of Richmond for generously lending us tools and weed abatement leading up to the word day.

Check out the results for yourself: Come out to Healthy Village Festival on June 29. The Community Green Space is also open Monday-Friday, 8am-3pm.
