Our first COVID19-safe holiday activity happened on Saturday and it was magnificently magical (scroll down for the full story!).
The holiday cheer continues with festive decorations now lining Macdonald Avenue and the virtual Downtown Holiday Festival this Wednesday, December 16! Storytime with Santa starts at 6pm and A Richmond Nutcracker takes the stage at 6:30pm. RSVP to watch via Zoom (and chat live with the North Pole) or tune in via YouTube Live.
To rest, reflect, and safely spend time with loved ones, Richmond Main Street will be closed from Monday, December 21 – Friday, January 1. Our newsletters, blog posts, and social media will be taking a break as well. We look forward to returning on January 4, 2021 and seeing everyone in the New Year! Thank you all for your continued support, engagement, and belief in the power of a revitalized Downtown.
Stay Safe & Happy Holidays!

Main Street Presents
When Santa Claus Came to Rich City
On Saturday, December 12, Santa Claus came to Rich City! 22 volunteers made 140 stops, delivering goodie bags–filled with small toys, new books, fresh fruit, candy canes, family resource materials, and a special invite to the virtual Downtown Holiday Festival–and a bit of holiday magic to 300 Richmond youngsters…the joy is immeasurable!
Thank you to all our Santa Helpers, individual donors, and sponsors: Travis Credit Union, West County Reads, and City of Richmond!
Shop Small All Season (and Year) Long
The holidays and gift giving season is here! Our Richmond-owned businesses are open–in person and online–with lots of great, unique items.
Did you know? For every dollar spent at a locally-owned business, $.68 stays in the community. So when you shop at your favorite indie gift shop, restaurant, retail store, or barbershop, you are actively supporting other local businesses, generating sales tax revenue, and helping to provide jobs for residents.
Remember to #ShopSmall all season–and all year–long!
