Richmond Main Street Announces Interim Executive Director
and Open Invitation to Annual Stakeholder Meeting
Richmond, CA –Richmond Main Street Initiative (RMSI) has tapped longtime Programs and Communications Manager Alicia Gallo to serve as Interim Executive Director, effective immediately.
Gallo’s appointment ensures stability and continuity for the organization following the resignation of Executive Director Vivian Wong, who stepped down in late February to devote her attention to family and other responsibilities. Gallo, along with Project Manager Ronnie Mills and the Board of Directors, will continue the important work of supporting the Downtown community through mission critical economic vitality, clean and safe, and promotions programs. The search for a permanent executive director is also on the horizon.
“I am honored to have the trust and support of our staff and board of directors,” Gallo says. “Perhaps more than ever, Richmond Main Street’s mission and leadership is vitally important. Our foundation is strong and I am confident that the momentum we’ve built will continue to grow.”
Gallo is a graduate of Mills College with more than a decade of experience at RMSI and a strong understanding of all organizational functions. She initially joined RMSI as an AmeriCorps Vista Member (through Bay Area LISC) in June 2010. As Outreach Coordinator and later Programs and Communications Manager, Gallo has played key roles growing RMSI’s organizational capacity and impact. Some of her key accomplishments include reviving the Neighborhood Ambassador Program, building strong partnerships with stakeholders and supporters, establishing the DRPBID, growing the organization’s community events into signature activities, and managing the Art In Windows, small business assistance, and youth development programs. Gallo has served as chair of the Healthy Richmond Economic Justice Action Team, and currently serves on the California Main Street Alliance board of directors and City of Richmond COVID19 Small Business Support working group.
Gallo and the Board of Directors invite the community to learn more about the RMSI’s plans for 2021 by tuning into the Annual Stakeholder Meeting on Wednesday, March 24, 5pm-6pm, via Zoom. More information and the link to RSVP are available at www.RichmondMainStreet.org.
