HARBOUR & MACDONALD MURAL REPAINTING

The teen-produced murals at the southwest corner of Macdonald and Harbour Way had been hit by graffiti. In response to a request for help, concerned folks in the City Manager’s office and the Arts Council recruited young artists Lucy and Zakyah, and some friends. They removed the graffiti and refreshed the panels. The murals were originally a Richmond Art Center Art 10 project, sponsored by Chevron Corporation. View larger versions of the murals >>

EARTH DAY TREE PLANTING BY C.Y.C.L.E.

In April, the project coordinators and youth at C.Y.C.L.E. (Community Youth Council for Leadership and Education) and Richmond Main Street planted the tree wells on the south 1000 block of Macdonald to celebrate Earth Day. They attracted so much good attention, some business and organizations have donated funds for the young women to plant tree wells on other blocks downtown.
