Richmond Main Street Initiative - Holiday Festival

About Downtown Holiday Festival

Downtown's annual holiday festival is one of Richmond Main Street Initiative's longest running annual events. Beginning in 2012, Richmond Main Street and East Bay Center for the Performing Arts formed a partnership to bring this special event filled with yuletide cheer to the community. Thanks to the help of countless volunteers, we transform the Center’s beautifully remodeled facility—the historic Winters Building, located at 339 11th Street—into a winter wonderland. We invite families from the Iron Triangle and surrounding communities to participate in a unique holiday celebration complete with festive music, spectacular, seasonal family-friendly performances, tasty snacks, group caroling, the magical illumination of Macdonald Avenue, and a memorable visit from Santa Claus.

The 2016 Downtown Holiday Festival was spectacular!

Thanks to the support of our co-hosts, East Bay Center for the Performing Arts, sponsors, and volunteers the 2016 Downtown Holiday Festival:

  • Welcomed nearly 500 visitors downtown to enjoy yuletide cheer

  • 300+ kids visited Santa and received gift bag filled with goodies

  • Distributed hundreds of books

  • Featured 2 performances of A Richmond Nutcracker

  • Offered savory snacks, fresh fruit, cookies, and hot cider

  • Gathered 150+ residents for caroling and the ceremonial illumination of the holiday lights along historic Main Street

Hosted by Richmond Main Street Initiative and East Bay Center for the Performing Arts.
