Richmond,
CA - Richmond Main Street Initiative will
gather the community to celebrate the
holidays with arts and crafts and entertainment
Wednesday, December
12 from 10am-12
noon for pre-school and kindergartners
and 5:00 pm-7:00
pm for the entire community
at the corner of Marina Way and Macdonald
Avenue.
During the evening event
Richmond Mayor Gayle McLaughlin and Community
and Economic Development director Steve
Duran will join the celebration and give
a brief address to the community.
It’s been said that Christmas is
for children. Richmond Main Street
will celebrate the holidays and honor children
by providing them with art and crafts, and
music and dance. At the Holiday Festival,
local children from the Iron Triangle will
visit with Santa Claus, sing songs, create
Christmas ornaments, receive goodies, and
enjoy the Richmond Main Street Initiative
holiday tree.
Local children
and artists will perform from 5:00 pm-7:00
pm for the community and enjoy refreshments
donated by local businesses. Performances
by the Richmond College Prep 1st and
2nd grade dancers, East Bay Center for
Performing Arts Son de la Tierra group
and the Contra Costa Chorale will be
a welcome treat to all.
In addition to
providing an opportunity for children
to perform and celebrate, this is also
an event that promotes the revitalization
of Richmond’s downtown
district by attracting residents and others
to downtown Richmond.
This event is made
possible by the generous contributions
of the Dean & Margaret
Lesher Foundation, Richmond Community Redevelopment
Agency, Sims Metal and Chevron.
